Family Values!

I am 72 yrs., of age and I am in a loving supportive, protective relationship with my partner for more than 28 yrs. We both lost our parents 4yrs., apart and eight years later, I still wake up in the middle of the night looking for my mother! I still hear her voice and live by her values, she taught me! Mom preached everyday and mostly every moment: about how you should treat your family and people, "the way you want to be treated," respecting yourselves, others and emphasizing you can be any thing you want but; you have to work hard for it! Remembering her expectations, "charity begins at home," her ever present image of how beautiful etc., etc.!

I worked over 50yrs., and out of those years: I worked with the NYC Department of Education! I have experiences in other fields: Chemical Bank, Citibank, Travelers Insurance, Chock full of Nuts, other restaurants. I worked at NYC Police Department and have engaged in several entrepreneur projects!

As a youth, babysitting gigs, selling candy, running errands for seniors and had the privilege to earn $40 weekly taking care of an elderly tenant! I was the "go-to -kid," cleaning Psychiatrist offices, washing windows! Basically, just couldn't sit down for long periods at a time. I remember my mother being called to school because I presented several challenges for the teachers! Pretty much the same behaviors that we witness today watching our children in schools! You see I/we did not know what to do!

As a school counselor, I was often called to handle the most extreme difficult kids that were bouncing off the walls and children that were labeled "kids/children at risk! Consequently, because of suicide ideations I was sent to Bellevue Hospital Psychiatric Ward, Hudson State Training Schools for Girls, Spotford Juvenile Center, and basically I was a child labeled and expected to be a statistic. Wow straight out shock to me! I was not expected to make it! Furthermore, and by who's authority? Well, look at me today! My mother would be so proud of me!

FACTS: I was diagnosed with ADHD and everything bothers me! When I hear of the violence towards seniors and others, violence towards youths resulting in deaths, etc., I challenge myself to offer words of encouragement; to let our kids know they can achieve anything they put their minds to accomplish; and dare them to reach their potentials! and Dreams! The world really cares and praying for them each and everyday! If I did not have my partner, family and wonderful, beautiful folks in my life; where would I be today? And you all know who you are! You guys are the best! You showed me I am okay and encouraged me to take one step at a time; and just knowing that others cared meant the world to me! And having God in my life gives me acknowlegment knowing he sent special folks to guide my steps! I am still trying to give back what was given to me..my Life!

WISDOM
I dedicate this new chapter in my life to my mother,
Ms. Pearl RogersI

As a child, I watched her determination, super strong will, resilence and more importantly always igniting fires discussing the importance of values, cultures, self-respect and work: to always be better; do better; never settle for mediocrity!
Her struggles raising eight children leaves an indelible imprint in my mind and soul for that, I will always love you mom! I will always remember you impacting my life in a positive and dynamic way: to never give up and never allow anyone to influence you and always believe in yourself! She emphasized, you can do anything you put your mind to accomplish!
